California Sales & Use tax

Who out there has a real good handle on the CA Sales & Use tax as it applies to sales of publication rights for images in California? Any info would be appreciated. ed@edcooper.com

Help with a contract issue...

Hi
I am hoping you can give me some quick advice on an issue I am having with a client.

ASMP Orphaned Works call to action- please write members of the House Judiciary Committee-

Dear ASMP Members and Associates,

An urgent call to action is requested, this one is a very targeted approach to the Orphaned works Bill(s).  We are looking for you reach only the House Committees that are working on the drafting of the bills.

Please Write, Fax or lastly email (a letter will hold 100X more weight than an email) the Members of the House Judiciary Committee below to let them know you would like House Bill H.R. 5889 passed in it's entirety, the current language of the bill contains the bare minimum of what photographers need and can accept, and any reductions in the protections for photographers, direct or indirect, will make the legislation unfair, unreasonable and unacceptable.

Editorial Pricing help

Hi all,

I need some pricing advice. Does anyone know the going rate for 1/4, 1/2, and/or cover images of architecture shots in 7x7 mag? It's a bit tricky because my client was contacted for the article, not me....so I don't want to put my client in a funny position and I definitely don't want to jeopardize publication.

Any advice would really help...thanks!!!! As always, this has to happen ASAP!

Legal Photo Rights-ASAP!

Dear ASMPnorcal members:

I received the email below from Vic Perlman of the Imagery Alliance and am forwarding it to our NorCal Members.

The California legislature is continuing its sneak attack on photographers, and we need you to take immediate action. Earlier this summer, we contacted you about a dreadful right-of-publicity bill (Senate Bill 771) that the celebrity management group CMG and other special interest groups were trying to push through in stealth mode. Well, that bill is still being pushed and is scheduled for a vote on the floor THIS FRIDAY, AUGUST 31! It is being moved virtually without notice to the public.
