Facing the Future: Portraits of UC Merced's Founding StudentsSubmitted by Genevieve_Shiffrar on Fri, 10/26/2007 - 7:09pm.12/01/2007 - 6:00am 12/01/2007 - 8:00pm An exhibition of photography by Roger J. Wyan is on display now through December 22, 2007 in the Merced Multicultural Arts Center Gallery.
This exhibit, featuring (45) 24 x 30 black and white photographic portraits of students, was made by Wyan over the course of UC Merced's first year.
Using a white backdrop to essentially separate the students from their environment, the photographs are the intersection of facial expression, ethnicity, clothing as an expression of individuality, body language and the nuances of that universal canvas called the human face.
