Renée Byer and the 2007 Pulitzer Winner, “A Mother’s Journey”
A co-production with the new ASMP NorCal Multimedia SIG (MMSIG)
Prepare to be moved by “A Mother’s Journey,” the 2007 winner of the Pulitzer Prize for feature photography by Renée Byer. The story follows a single mother and her 10-year-old son through his last year of life as he battles a rare and fatal cancer. Renée and members of the team at the Sacramento Bee will share this heartbreaking and heartwarming story and talk about the year-long photo and multimedia project. The multimedia project won major awards from POYi and SFBAPPA this year too piece in the series can be viewed at http://www.sacbee.com/static/richmedia/swf/journey/audiojourney/.

The event will also help raise money for a new foundation set up by Cyndi French (the mother in the story) to assist single parents like herself with the devastating financial hardships that face a single parent caring for a terminally ill child. Cyndi has awarded one check so far and we hope our contributions will fund a second one.
With over 25 years of experience in the media industry, Renée Byer is an award-winning photographer, designer and picture editor.
