November 8th:
Getting Started and Staying in Business 101
Photography is a wonderful profession, but staying in business is a challenge. You can have an incredible technical background and an amazing list of clients, but a few mistakes can send your career into a tailspin—maybe not immediately; however, it doesn’t take long.
On November 8, 2005, ASMP Northern California and Blue Sky Rental Studios will host Getting Started In Business 101.
Tim Wang of Wells Fargo Bank will kick off the event with a presentation covering financial issues.
Geraldine LiaBraaten; fellow ASMP member, past chapter president and treasurer; will discuss keeping your accounting skills in order—covering sales tax and other critical issues.
Sally Ann Nichols, an ASMP Northern California chapter sustaining member and owner of Nichols Insurance of Castro Valley, will advise us on the value of insurance to help steer us clear of those nasty curves in life.
Ryan Baldwin; head of Digital Photography at the Academy of Art University, a stock and location shooter when he can find the time, and ASMP member; will share his experiences, mistakes (true confessions), and short cuts that might help you avoid those mistakes.
Getting started can be trying, however finding the right advice is not that hard. Just talk to an ASMP member. You’re not alone, and it’s nice to have fellow members you can lean on for advice.
