| America 24/7:The Project
For two decades, the best-selling
Day in the Life books, created by Rick Smolan and David
Elliot Cohen, have chronicled cultures around the world. Fifteen
titles, including A Day in the Life of America, A Day
in the Life of China, A Day in the Life of the Soviet Union,
and most recently, A Day in the Life of Africa have collectively
sold millions of copies and garnered worldwide press attention,
including the covers of Time, Newsweek, Fortune
and US News & World Report.
Smolan and Cohen have reunited
to produce America 24/7,
the largest collaborative photography project in history. America
24/7 will dispatch more than 1,000 top
photojournalists across the country armed with Olympus digital cameras.
The project will also invite up to a million or more digital photography
enthusiasts to submit their own visions of America.
Professionals and amateurs will
shoot exclusively during the week of May 12-18, 2003. Their work
will be showcased in 53 books, a TV special, a traveling exhibit,
and an online gallery.
