EXPERIENCE:
I have been a photographer for 15 years, now working both digitally
and with film. I'm a member of Media Alliance, the San Francisco
Bay Area Press Photographers Association, and the Laney College
photography department advisory board. I have received grants from
the City of Oakland Cultural Arts Division, the Rosenberg Fund for
Children, and two three-year Artist in Residence grants from the
California Arts Council. My photo projects have included: grass
shrimp in San Francisco Bay; Allensworth State Historical Park,
a post-Reconstruction African-American farming colony in the San
Joaquin Valley; Harm Reduction/needle exchange to prevent HIV infection;
and a twelve year project with Rufus Hockenhull, a previously homeless
African-American war veteran now struggling with cancer. I'm a photographic
generalist, which keeps me searching for exciting ways to interpret
each assignment. I love working in diverse situations and try to
keep empathy and humor in my work.
