EXPERIENCE:
Born in Northern California, Mel Lindstrom developed his creative
eye first in painting and sculpting before discovering photography
at an early age. He attended The Art Center College of Design with
a rarely awarded advanced acceptance, then graduated the 4 year
program on a self imposed accelerated course. Immediately upon graduation,
Mel was hired by the school where he worked for 2 semesters before
moving more into commercial photography.
Mel's work is best known for his ability to
bring a sense of beauty to everything from still lifes to portraits.
Even his shots of executives demonstrate a sense of warmth and emotion
that is not typical in such venue. Presently Mel's passions have
turned toward a "New Art" style that has already brought
critical acclaim and won numerous awards.
Mel has helped other aspiring photographers
by taking time away from the studio operations as an instructor
at San Jose State University and the San Francisco Academy of Arts,
along with being a guest speaker at numerous other colleges, universities
and trade organizations. He served on the board of the San Francisco
chapter of the APA ( Advertising Photographers of America ) as the
National Liaison from 1999 - 2003. And has recently become a member
of ASMP. Mel has not only had articles written about him in various
trade magazines, but has also authored articles that have appeared
in local and national publications.
